パターン 8：When was the last time … ? ; The last time … was … [中級]

last time は「前回」という意味で使われる場合もありますが、 When was the last time … ? は「最後に～したのはいつですか？」という意味になります。

• When was the last time (that) + (過去形の文).
  最後に～したのはいつですか？
• The last time (that) + (過去形の文) + was + (時間).
  最後に～したのは～です

後ろには (that 節) + (過去形の文) が続きます。that 節 を使わなくて OK です！

• When was the last time you ate pizza?
  最後にピザ食べたのはいつですか?
• When was the last time you went abroad?
  最後に海外に行ったのはいつですか？
• When was the last time that you visited your parents?
  最後に実家に帰ったのはいつですか？
• When was the last time that you saw her?
  最後に彼女と会ったのはいつでしたか？
• When was the last time that he called you?
  最後に彼から電話があったのはいつでしたか？

The last time (that) + 過去形の文 + was + 時間

こんな質問に答える時は次のようなパターン使うことができます。

• It was (過去の時間).
  ～です。
• The last time was (過去の時間).
  最後は～です。
• The last time (that) + (過去形の文) + was + (過去の時間).
  最後にしたのは～です。

was の後ろには yesterday (昨日), last weekend (先週末), two months ago (二ヶ月前), three years ago (三年前) のような時間表現を使います。

Example 1
When was the last time you ate pizza?
最後にピザ食べたのはいつですか?
The last time was two weeks ago.
最後は二週間前ですね。

Example 2
When was the last time that you went abroad?
最後に海外に行ったのはいつですか？
The last time I went abroad was in May.
最後に海外に行ったのは5月です。

Example 3
When was the last time you saw her?
最後に彼女と会ったのはいつでしたか？
It was three years ago.
三年前です。
