今回は疑問詞と疑問文の作り方を紹介したいと思います。疑問詞は特に3種類のパターンで使われます。

• What is (this)?
  (疑問詞 – be 動詞 – 名詞)
• What do you (do)?
  (疑問詞 – do – 主語 – 動詞の原形)
• What can/will/should I (do)?
  (疑問詞 + 助動詞 + 主語 + 動詞の原形)

まずは「疑問詞 + be 動詞 + 名詞」の形を教えします。

What is … ? ; What do you … ?

what は「何」意味しますから、What is … ? とは「～は何ですか？」となりますね。be 動詞は、次に来る単語と時制によって刑が変わります。is は複数形で are になりますね。

• What is this?
  これは何ですか？
• What are these?
  これらは何ですか？
• What is your favorite food?
  一番好きな食べ物は何ですか？
• What are your favorite foods?
  一番好きな食べ物は何ですか？
• What is your hobby?
  趣味は何ですか？
• What are hobbies?
  趣味は何ですか？
• What was your dream?
  夢は何だった？
• What were your dreams?
  夢は何だった？

What do you … ? とは「何を～しますか」という意味になります。do は、三人称単数形 (he・she・it・単数の名詞)で does になります。

• What do you do for fun?
  (あなたは) 何をして遊ぶ？
• What does he do for fun?
  彼は何をして遊ぶ？
• What do you want to eat?
  何を食べたいのですか？
• What does Dustin want to eat?
  ダスティンは何を食べたいのですか？
• What do you want to do?
  何をしたいの？
• What does she want to do?
  彼女は何をしたいの？

過去形で do/does が did になります。

• What did you do?
  何をしたの？
• What did you say?
  何て言った？
• What did you buy?
  何買ったの？
• What did you hear?
  何を聞いたの？

Who is … ?  Who do you … ?

who は「誰」を意味しますから、Who is … ? は「～は誰ですか？」となります。使い方は他の疑問文と同じですね。be 動詞は、次の単語と時制によって刑が変わります。

• Who is he?
  彼は誰ですか？
• Who are they?
  彼らは誰ですか？
• Who is your friend?
  友達は誰ですかか？
• Who are your teachers?
  先生たちは誰ですか？
• Who was in the movie? (単数形)
  誰が映画に出てた？
• Who were in the movies? (複数形)
  誰が映画に出てた？

Who do you … ? と Who did you … ? というパターンもあります。「誰だと思う？」「誰が好き？」「誰にもらった？」などの文で使われます。

• Who do you think it is?
  誰だと思うか
• Who do you like?
  誰が好きですか？
• Who does he look like?
  彼は誰に似ていますか。
• Who did you get this from?
  これ誰にもらったんですか？

Where is … ? Where do … ?

where は「どこ」意味しますから、Where is … ? は「～はどこですか？」となります。be 動詞は、次の単語と時制によって刑が変わります。

• Where is the station?
  駅はどこですか？
• Where was my phone?
  携帯電話はどこだった？
• Where are your friends?
  君の友達はどこにいるの？
• Where were you?
  どこにいたの？
• Where are you from?
  どこから来ましたか？(出身はどこですか？)

Where do you … ? は「どこで～する」という意味になります。

• Where do you want to eat?
  どこで食べたいの？
• Where do you work?
  どこで働いているの？
• Were do you live?
  どこに住みますか？
• Where were you living?
  どこに住んでいたのですか？
• Where did you eat?
