be 동사 + there 는 "~가 있다"라는 의미로 자주 사용됩니다.
- There is (단수 명사) (장소).
～가 (～에) 있다 - There are (복수 명사) (장소).
～가 (～에) 있다
There is … 와 There are … 는 '~가 있다'라는 뜻이며, 어디에 뭔가 있다는 것 / 존재를 나타내는 패턴입니다. be 동사를 문장의 맨 앞에 위치하면 의문문이 되죠? 그래서 "~가 있어요"라고 물어보고 싶을 때 Is there … ? 이나 Are there … ? 를 쓰세요.

here 는 "여기", there 는 "거기, 저기" 라는 뜻이에요. 두번째로 무언가 (누군가)의 존재를 언급할 때 … is here, … is there 이라는 패턴을 쓸 수 있습니다. 이 there 는 '존재'를 가리키는 (existential) there 아니라, 위치적인 의미를 가지고 있는 (locative) there 입니다. 그렇기 때문에, … is there / … are there 는 공통 인식을 알려줄 때 자주 사용됩니다.
